Event Details

What:

Ultra Snowshoe Race - 100 miles and Snowshoe Marathon, 1/2 Marathon, and 6 Mile Option.   The course will be a rugged 6.5 mile loop in the Green Mountains of Vermont.  Each loop has 1200 vertical. 

 

Death Division:

Snowshoe Race “Death Division”

Participants of this race portion will be joining the 100 mile snowshoe racers. “Death Division” runners will start Friday, February 28th at 8:00 a.m. and have 24 hours to complete the 100 miles. At the end of each 6.5 mile lap participants will have to complete a challenge before moving on to their next lap. These challenges will be similar to those encountered during a Death Race and will be physical, mental, or both. The participant with the most laps completed by Saturday, March 1st at 8:00 a.m. will be the winner. If more than one participant is on the same number of  laps completed, the first one to come back and finish the lap’s challenge receives higher standing. *Same cost as 100 mile snowshoe.


Points Awarded Based on Completion of Laps:      

Laps 1 & 2= 5 points each

Laps 3 & 4= 10 points each

Laps 5 & 6= 15 points each

Laps 7 & 8= 20 points each

Laps 9 & 10= 25 points each

Laps 11 & 12= 30 points each

Laps 13 & 14= 35 points each

Laps 15 & 16= 40 points each

Laps 17 & 18= 45 points each

Total Possible: 450 points

       

1st Place= Lap points +100 points

2nd Place= Lap points +75 points

3rd Place= Lap points +50 points

 


When:

100 mile race starts Friday, February 28th at 8 a.m. and has a 34 hour cut off.  All other distances start Saturday, March 1st at 8 a.m.  Course closes at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, March 1st for all distances. No exceptions.

Lodging:

Amee Farm, Trailside Lodge, Swiss Farm. Camping is available at many state parks in the area that offer camping and lots of smaller motels and B & B's as well.


Rules:

Don't cut the course. Don't litter. 


Weather:

Cold. It's Vermont in March. People still ski in May so you could even see some snow.  Please watch the weather leading up to the race and plan accordingly.  Expect cold temps.


Food:

We will have a checkpoint at the top of the mountain with minimal aid and we'll do the same at the start/finish.  We will have something warm at each aid station and something warm when you finish.  If there is anything particular that you like please bring it. 

 

DROP BAGS:

We will have a tent set up and you can leave bags with food and clothes at the start/finish.

 

PARKING: 

We have parking at the Amee Farm Lodge on route 100.  There will be Event Parking signs and a designated parking area.  The lot may fill and if it does you will be directed 1 mile away from Amee Farm to a lot which has been cleared specifically for overflow parking.  Please park in designated areas.  You may be towed if you are parked illegally.
